Nakumatt FC Head Coach Anthony Mwangi is hoping for an impressive display from his side when it takes on Sony Sugar on Saturday in the Kenya Premier League.
Mwangi has also stated that the team is aiming for a top eight finish after they managed to remain in the top tier in their debut campaign last year.
Nakumatt FC has endured a rough ride since joining the Kenya Premier League, owing to their never-ending financial difficulties, with the only positive last season, being avoiding relegation in their debut campaign, finishing in the 15th position with 39 points.
Despite losing their top striker Kepha Aswani to Sofapaka and Captain David Nzuki to Tusker, Mwangi expects new arrivals, including defender Noah Abich from Bandari to be key in this year’s campaign.
Meanwhile, Nakumatt’s Secretary General Alfred Wesonga says in the aftermath of Sportpesa pulling its sponsorship from the league, teams have been forced to do with the little they have, which is barely enough to run the clubs.
