Kenya’s 19-year old Sabrina Simader who is the sole Kenyan representatives in this year’s Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea will take to the field today, Sunday, in the skiing event.

As a one-woman team, Simader who is accompanied in South Korea by three-time Olympian Philip Boit was the only person available to carry the Kenyan flag at Friday’s opening ceremony.

Boit  was the first Kenyan to  take part in the Winter Olympics, in 1998, 2002 and 2006.

Simader qualified for the Games after competing in the World Championships last February.

This makes her the second Kenyan after Philip Boit to represent Kenya at the Winter Games.

She will join Eritrean Alpine skier Shannon-Ogbani Abeda, Nigerian bobsled team and Ghanaian skeleton athlete to fly high the flag of Africa at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
