Kenya Film Classification Board-KFCB says plans are underway that seek to transform cultural events held annually at public universities to foster national cohesion, and impart positive social values and morality to students.
The Board’s Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua says at the heart of the board’s key agenda is the need to identify and nurture talent among the youth as well as encourage them to embrace social values and shun harmful content.
It was a moment to showcase various cultural practices at Kisii University when the institution of higher learning held its cultural week that was well attended by people from different parts of the country.
According to Murua, such platforms can be used in encouraging creative knowledge which the country must strive to embrace.
It is here that he also disclosed plans to transform cultural events that are usually held annually in public universities and model them into crucial tools that will be used in fostering national cohesion.
Meanwhile he says the ongoing crackdown on public service vehicles displaying content laced with pornographic material which are destroying the moral fabric of the society will be spread to other parts of the country.
Speaking in Mombasa last Monday when he launched the campaign, Mutua expressed concern that public service vehicles are displaying content laced with pornographic materials which are destroying the moral fabric of the society.
According to him, the unbecoming practice undermines national values and morality, promising it will not continue under his watch.
