The common border between Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot Counties has in the recent past witnessed incessant cases of insecurity with cattle rustlers remaining a key cause of concern among locals.
The leaders are calling on the locals to embrace peaceful co-existence and work hand in hand with security officers deployed in the area to end cases of lawlessness.
Parties at the meeting at the same time agreed to stand in solidarity with National Police Reservists deployed in the area to ensure the safety of the locals.
Banditry attacks have been escalating in the area leading to the displacement of hundreds of locals after their houses were torched two weeks ago along the West Pokot – Marakwet border.
The government has since deployed security personnel to the region to restore normalcy after locals fled their homes torched by suspected Marakwet bandits.
The affected residents have so far benefited from free medical camp that has been set up to help attend to those infected by various ailments as a result of sleeping in the cold.
